Probably because it hasn't been reported to them. If you'd like, I can help you look into this to see if it's really a bug or just an issue in your profile.

To help with that, please test with a new profile. Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles. Do you see the issue there? If you do see it, please give some more details on what's actually happening.

The last reboot lasted about a week until web performance looked like it was something like molasses moving in a liquid nitrogen tank. Did a reboot of my system (its the only way to clear the issue AND its only temporary(!!)) and given that I had no incidneces of Firefox up thought I might comply with the directions in the above mentioned link to create a profile (or a new profile). The result was actually sort of cute.

I ran #firefox -P and the result was (drum roll please) (process:5620): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

so after I had set up all the windows and mounted everything that needs mounting (just remembered one more desktop that still isn't finished (process takes about 10 minutes) I went to my friend duckduck to see what I could see.

Well - - - its a known bug from some time ago.

So - - - any ideas as to what to do to get around this known issue to fix the other issue (that should be known)?

Hmmmmmm - - - I understand that the help forum's are populated with volunteers but it looks from this vantage point like the developer's really don't (maybe better won't) interact with the users.

Are you (the developers) scared of getting contaminated?

They want to hear what great and brilliant chaps they are.

They know, they won't hear it from us, certainly not after Australis and the blatant removal of customization options ...so they stick(pun intended) to their private circlejerk sessions I guess...

This thread is rapidly degenerating. We do listen to user feedback, both from this forum, our input site (which anyone can give feedback at input.mozilla.org/feedback), surveys, twitter, facebook, reddit, etc. My team is dedicated to just listening to what our users say and passing it on to the developers.

While australis was a big change, and obviously upset some users (change will always upset someone) but the overwhelming majority of users loved Australis, and we actually saw more users, and the users who have Firefox used it more after Australis. For those users who aren't happy about the changes, there are a host of add-ons and tutorials on how to change the design.

I actually wouldn't have that much of an issue with Australis (setting that windows 8 atrocities menu and chrome ripoff aside) Generally I do like clean UIs .

What upsets long time users like myself is the arrogant, condescending mindset of REMOVING functionality, ease of use and CUSTOMIZATION and having the gall to call it a "more customizable" FF.

Add to that the attitude towards us who complain about missing what we loved about FF and you have the makings of escalating discussions and migrating users to other software.

THAT behaviour from (other) commercial vendors and the former existing customizations were what drove us to FF in the first place and it WILL drive us to alternatives !!

I switched to Pale Moon and consider even going completely away from FF clones/mozilla.

Please don't pretend we are some whiners afraid of change. (this is btw. exactly that condescening attitude I mentioned) Change is not the issue, nor our unwillingness to it. (even though change is not always good..."don't fix it, if it ain't broken" pops to mind)

The issue is pure and simple: FF is a castrated version of it's former self with less customization, ultimately less functionality.

Another thing: DESKTOP users are NOT MOBILE users !!!

Both platforms have VERY DIFFERENT requirements to the UI and functionality. One simply cannot samewash them without crippling desktop (and notebook) versions up to inusability.

GIVE US OPTIONS TO SWITCH OR CUSTOMIZE, NOT REMOVE THEM!!

...one more thing, add-ons are not there to FIX what DEVS broke(on purpose) or removed. They should be there to allow specific tasks, that the core application doesn't initially cater. Simple basic funtionality, necessary for any good software and internet browsing(in FFs case) should be (and largely was) part of the core software.

Add-ons have issues,may brake many other things, you know full well. (especially if the developers feel their "vision" in some way threatened by it, they may make it harder for them to work...)

I'm going to lock this thread because it is no longer (honestly, it never was) a support request.

Feel free to move to whatever browser you like, that is the entire reason Mozilla exists, to make sure there is choice in the market.
