FF always searches for remembered URLs
When I start typing a URL, FF displays matching URLs in a drop-down box. Until recently, clicking on one of the remembered URLs would take me directly to the URL. Now, FF *always* searches for the partial URL I typed instead of going to the one I clicked. I did notice that some items on the list have a search icon next to them, and I am careful not to click on those. FF searches anyway. How can I restore what should be the obvious behavior of going to the URL that I clicked?

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here... Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
there also appears to be some adware present in your profile. please run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner which are specialised in adware and browser hijackers.

Thanks! The problem did not happen in safe mode. I ran Malwarebytes and it removed a bunch of stuff, and the problem went away. Yay!
