more options

I have a new computer and recently installed Firefox as my browser. I use Windows 7 on this new computer. I have my ad blocker activated but I am still getting ads EVERYWHER. Ever single page I go to I get ads that pop up. I am to the point where I am about to stop using firefox if I can't get help fixing this. I mean I am visiting my school website and getting pop up ads for out of data Java, which is completely up to date. If I go to Google I get 3 pop up ads. If I then type in my search I get 3 more pop up ads. If I click on a link through Google I get pop up ads. If I visit battle.net I get 2 more pop up ads. Please tell me what to do to fix this or I am deleting firefox.

hello, this sounds like adware/malware being present on your system. please perform all these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

I agree with philipp's initial diagnosis.

In addition to checking Firefox, I also suggest checking for external programs which can re-insert unwanted add-ons.

Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in finding undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
