How to play MIDI files on Firefox for Android?

When I click on a link in a web page at points to a MIDI file (that has a .mid file extension), I receive a error stating that it cannot play the audio file. In the desktop version of Firefox, there typically is a way to associate external applications to execute "something reasonable" with the file. This presumably means that Firefox first downloads the file, and then executes the external command on the temporary downloaded file to view or play the file. Does it work similarly in Firefox for Android?

Hi bgoodr, It is a similar process, but different functions on the version of Firefox. For further investigation do you happen to have an example where this type of file can be downloaded and what app that youare using to open the .midi file?

https://thesession.org/tunes/3278 is an example source for MIDI files. Click on the button for MIDI. What happens then on my tablet, is that a popup is displayed asking for which application to download it to. It shows two apps, one being Firefox, and the other being the EZ file manager app.

The application I have now is MIDI Sheet Music in the Google play store. So how to arrange it so that latter app is used to open the file directly? I don't want to have to first download it, navigate to the Downloads folder, and open it. Should just work directly.

I see, I downloaded it with the ES file, once it was done downloading it gave an option to open the file with 4 apps, one listed was the MIDI Sheet Music. On that option, there is an option to select it as the default.

However with the default app being detected when you open it with Beta, it will by default put it in the Downloads folder.

Thanks. However I have a different problem that may not be Firefox's fault: Even when I navigate to the download folder using ES File Explorer, and click the file, and select MidiSheetMusic (not checking "Set as the default app" for now), the screen flashes for a split second and then I see the ES File Explorer window again.

Sounds like either an ES File Explorer or MidiSheetMusic app problem, or just that MidiSheetMusic is not designed to be the target for loading .mid files in this manner.
