I just upgraded to FF34 and having a horrible time getting everything functioning right again. My current problem is that when I type a name in the Awesome Bar, it will not look at ALL my bookmarks. It does show some, but not all. For example if I type Dev, it properly shows my bookmark for Dev Guru. If I type fire, it shows nothing even though I have 4-5 bookmarks related to firefox. If I type the letter "s" I can see 5 related bookmarks but not the proper one. I have location bar in the settings set to History and Bookmarks. I have not found any solutions on the web and am at a loss as to what to try next. I have even deleted the bookmark and added it back. Does not seem to help.

I ended up finding my own solution. For anyone who is interested here is what I had to do to fix this problem:

Steps to solve the problem of the Awesomebar (Location Bar) not finding some bookmarks: Press Cntrl+Shift+B to show all bookmarks Click on Import and Backup Click on Backup Save the file Close Firefox Navigate to the Mozilla Profile Director (On a Windows 7 Box it is most likely in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\YouFireFoxProfileName) Make a copy of the bookmarkbackups folder, places.sqlite, places.sqlite-shm, and places.sqlite-wal Delete all the files in the bookmarkbackups folder Delete places.sqlite, places.sqlite-shm, and places.sqlite-wal Open Firefox Press Cntrl+Shift+B to show all bookmarks Click on Import and Backup Click on Restore >> Choose File Select the file from earlier

Note that it usually shouldn't be necessary to delete the backups in the bookmarkbackups folder. If you leave those then Firefox will use the most recent to rebuild the bookmarks. Only if the backups are corrupted then you would have to move the backups elsewhere.

I agree with you that normally you should not have to delete the bookmarks. However, I had three different machines take the FF34 upgrade and all three had the same problem. All three were fine before the upgrade and all three required the full steps above to fix the problem. I tried to shorten the steps, but I needed all the steps to fix the problem. Something in the upgrade process required these to be deleted.
