The Plugin Checker & Updates is not working on both my PC and Laptop - ("Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins Loading Data") is displayed but nothing loads.

Please contact the partner that also provides the updates to this. I am not aware if this is a Mozilla Firefox build with a Yahoo toolbar or another build that may be different from this build.
However it is also possible to install an update to an add on with the add on page that can be found in addons.mozilla.org.
