I've been using Thunderbird for a couple years, this started happening about 2 weeks ago. Inbox shows new/old messages and subjects just fine but if I click on a message it opens as a blank page in a new tab. The same happens in the sent folder and all other folders. I can still delete messages and receive new ones but cannot view them. I've tried to run in safe mode and I'm current with updates.

Just figured it out, somehow the default Thunderbird start page got changed to accuweather.com - Under tools/options and the general tab. I noticed this and clicked restore to default and now the body of my messages are loading properly. Weird - I guess since it was attempting to load a webpage it crapped out the body text and loading nothing. Who know - just glad its working and maybe can help someone else with this issue!

That didn't work, maybe an uninstall/reinstall?

Everything in Thunderbird is blank and solid black, I have nothing I can right click on. I right clicked about 20 times in 20 different places on the black first page and got zero menus.

My wife discovered the problem and the solution. The UW-Madison was ending employees using their old e-mail system and switching to the Office 365 program. I thought that wasn't happening until July 31st and panicked about the blank screens. In fact, the switch was made on June 30th and it resulted in blank screens for anyone trying to use the old system.

I appreciate your help Matt and hope I haven't inconvenienced you or anyone else with what turned out to be my bad memory causing a problem and not my PC. Thanx again for your efforts. remiller9
