Why does Thunderbird not respond immediately
Thunderbird frequently does not respond immediately and displays the diagnostic, "Thunderbird on responding." It then displays the wait symbol (circling error). It does come back but some times this happens with every key stroke. I am about ready to give up on Thunderbird and just use the Google interface for mail.

What is your anti-virus software?
