Going back a while I noticed that under unsorted bookmarks there many many "Mozilla Getting Started" saved This also occurs under the bookmark menu area. The system for the past month seems to crash more often than I've experienced before.

Unfortunately the screenshot does not show a list of the unsorted bookmarks, however if there is an issue with duplicates, please check to make sure that there is not another add on or sync service that might be duplicating the bookmarks. In the meantime there is an add on for the duplicates:

(Before running it, please make a back up of the bookmarks from the Show > All Bookmarks menu)

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
