New Metropcs LG70 android phone, downloaded Firefox 39, found the cool FF search widget and put it on my home screen. The next day it's gone. Went back to do it again and it's nowhere to be found! I followed every instruction and suggestion but nothing. I think google ate it..... The only other thought I had was to delete and re download FF. It's on an Android 4.4.2. Any suggestions?

Have you powered your phone completely off and back on again since this happened? Just in case something crashed and needs a complete boot.

If you long-press a blank area of the home screen and go into the widgets and flip through them, is the Firefox search box just completely gone from the list? If it's completely gone, I think reinstalling Firefox might make the most sense unless someone knows of a setting that could explain it.

Thank you. I had tried the power off/on but no go, and the widget has completely disappeared. I was just seeing if there was something I was missing before doing the delete/reinstall thing. All of this preinstalled google stuff kind of drives me crazy, leaving little room for things I really want!

Hi

I saw your question and I think I may have had the same issue in the past.

There is a small fault in Android 4.4 that means that if you move an app to the SD card in the storage menu, the associate widget may not be available. The app will still work perfectly well, but the widget may not be available. This does happen with Firefox for Android.

This article will walk you through the screen shots (it should be the same for Android 4.4.1 as for 4.4.4).

I hope this helps, but if not please come back here and we will do our best to help.
