I deleted emails from my Qwest webmail, and then deleted the trash. I didn't expect this action to remove them from Thunderbird, but it did. How can I restore my Thunderbird emails?

If you deleted them from your providers server I do not know where you expect the messages to come back from. You might contact your provider and see if they have any options for you. Then you might want to learn how IMAP email works with regards to email clients.
