When printing to [statement] size paper, Foxfire for windows prints as if [letter]size paper is selected. When printing to [Letter] size paper, FFFW prints as if [statement] paper is selected. The problem is intermittent and depends on the previous print job. The only place to change the paper size is in: File | print |[properties] but the formatting does not change until the next print job. FFFW uses the previous print page size formatting for the current job even though the page size has changed. I regularly use two different paper sizes, Statement and Letter. Is there some way to select the correct page size and have the page formatted for that size the first time?

Hi TimberlineCoyote , Yes it is in the printing properties. File > Print and Show options in Presets.

To reset any stored properties with these instructions:

Firefox defaults to the "last used" paper size preference; same for margins & header/footer - but not for the Landscape / Portrait if that was selected thru "Properties" for the specific printer, only when set in Print Preview or Page Setup within Firefox.

"... but the formatting does not change until the next print job." Yes, it has to be used immediately for that pref to become the new "default".

Which brand of printer has a "Statement" paper size listed? I currently have two Brother printers and in the past have had Espon brand printers, and none have had a Statement or half Letter paper size listed. I always had to create a "custom paper size" in Open Office to be able to print to 5.5" x 8.5" paper for stuff I printer for a half size binder (technical notes for my home workshop).

guigs,

I've been digging around and am familiar with the {Page Setup} which has no page size. {about:config} doesn't seem to provide a good solution. I've been working with print.printer but changing the print.printer***.print_paper_height and print.printer ***.print_paper_width each time doesn't seem like a good practice. If I adopt the practice, I post the results. Reseting all printers isn't a good choice. I'm reluctant to reset the specific printer because there many different settings, {Preference Names}, for each printer. The instructions don't explain which {preference Names} will be effected. Perhaps only one and then we are back to editing paper_height and Paper_width. The best solution so far is to just print out the page until its right - though this is getting quite annoying. I've also thought about pausing the printer and sending the print job until the page size is correct, then deleting the unwanted print jobs, restarting the printer and requesting the print job one more time to get the final printout. Sounds like the FF would have to be modified to include {Page Size} maintenance.

the-edmeister,

I've a Canon LBP 6670 and am using the UFRII printer driver that works much better than the others. Open Office does work with the UFRII printer driver so no {custom paper size} is needed. The HP and Canon Laser printers I've used support statement size. I can't speak for their deskjets.
