website fails to load with message "waiting for encripted.google.com"

more options

Some web sites, such as www.jeepforum.com and http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com either fail to load at all or fail to load completely with a message in the lower left corner stating "waiting for encripted.google.com". Other browsers, such as Chrome load the sites without a problem and Firefox on another machine running the same version of the OS loads the sites without a problem.

I've tried deleting cookies, emptying the cache, and all the other things one normally does to get the browser to work, but to no avail.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Bill Lugg

I looked at the sites listed, but to no avail. the problem still exists. I also fixed the Flash problem, which as you stated is a separate issue. On the outside chance that it might correct my problem, I tried again after fixing it, but again, no joy.

Thanks for the info. Bill Lugg

Hi Bill, is this a problem with a direct link or bookmark to the site, or only when using Google search results to get to the site? Google has an exit script on results links for tracking, so some users occasionally get "stuck" on an interstitial page using a link in search results.

Setting that aside, I notice the first site has a lot of advertising providers. Since I'm using NoScript to filter site content, and I suspect Fred is using an ad blocker, we may be missing something that is loaded by one of those ad scripts. The second site is much more straightforward, at least on the home page.

Have you tried a different search engine?

Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon {web link} Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon extends the blocking functionality of Adblock Plus to those annoying pop-up windows that open on mouse clicks and other user actions.

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

It appears that most of the problem has been solved by using the NoScript add-on. I still have a problem at http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/mig-welding-basics-4.html ( the video doesn't display), but most other sites seem to work much better.

FWIW, I use duckduckgo as my search engine, but it doesn't seem to matter how I enter the sites, I can go in from a search engine, from the new tab in Firefox, from a saved tab from a previous session or by just typing the address into the address bar.

One thing that just occurred to me, some time back I started a blog first at blog.com and then moved it to wordpress. Somewhere in the process, I signed up for Google Analytics to monitor traffic on the blog. IS it possible that I got more than I bargained for in that deal? I didn't install any add-ons or extensions (knowingly), but who knows what may have happened behind the scenes.

Disabling IPv6 didn't make a difference, by the way.

Thanks for all the help. Bill Lugg

Google Analytics lives on websites, not in Firefox, so that probably isn't an issue.

That said, you can keep Google Analytics blocked in NoScript. I do that to avoid being counted on my own sites and company site. I've only seen one case where it disabled a feature in a page (I think it was a slide show where you couldn't advance an image without getting counted).
