Firefox was working in Win7 now it crashes on startup even after clean install; is there a problem with Symantec?
Firefox was working on my Windows 7 desktop. One day it gave me a crash report on startup, I went through the troubleshooting procedures suggested. Tried restarting, upgraded, uninstalled and reinstalled, Uninstalled and cleaned files and registry and removed add-on files then reinstalled but nothing works. It keeps giving a crash report on startup. I recall that my Symantec software gave a message that FireFox was stopped due to an attack on my system. Ever since then it will not work and I can't seem to get FireFox past the crash screen on startup.

Thank you for the crash report IDs. If you open the crash reports and click the "Modules" tab, you'll see that the first on the list in each case is "FLVSrvLib.dll". That module installs with various Applian Technologies programs including Freecorder and Replay Media Catcher.
This crash is closely associated with having BOTH the Applian software AND Norton security software. Since presumably you don't want to switch away from Norton, you can remove or deactivate the Applian software as follows:
(1) Uninstall & reboot
If you have either of those programs and it isn't essential, try uninstalling it and then restarting Windows to ensure that none of its components are left running.
Will Firefox start normally after that?
(2) Prevent auto-startup
If you prefer not to uninstall the program, a few other users said using the msconfig program to prevent FlvSrvc.exe from running at startup bypassed the problem.

You still may need to reboot to unload the software from your current Windows session.

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
- On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
- In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
- From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
- Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
- Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
- Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks for the reply. Removing Freecorder and FLVSrv.dll got FireFox working. Now I just have to sync up my bookmarks and extensions.
