FF has a few 'smart folders' of bookmarks (recently bookmarked, recently tagged) but there doesn't seem to be a way to CREATE one of these using specific search criteria. It looks like there used to be a way to 'save' a bookmark search but that doesn't seem to be possible any more. I save hundreds of bookmarks from one specific site, and I need to be able to see them all in one place but I don't want to have to put them into a folder manually--I just hit the star to save the page. Then when I need to see a list of the pages on that site I've saved, I have to 'show all bookmarks' and do a search. I want a folder in my bookmarks toolbar that's dynamically fed from search criteria I customize, so that the most recently bookmarked page is at the top, followed by all of the pages that match my search criteria. I would also use something like this to show things like pages I've bookmarked with 'red' in the title, or 'car'. I can't believe this isn't built-in the FF, since there are those baked-in smart folders already.

You can still create a smart bookmarks query that start with place: You probably need to close and restart Firefox to make Firefox recognize the folder as a smart folder. See:

  • Name: Recently Visited Bookmarks
    Location: place:onlyBookmarked=true&sort=4&maxResults=30
