How do I copy text from a text dialog box in firefox on android?

more options

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. I can bring up Firefox, and then go to the Safari book service. I can read pages in the book fine. There is a "URL" button that brings up a dialog box that shows the URL for this page. I want the easiest way to get that entire URL into the clipboard so I can paste it somewhere.

I've been able to select the entire string, although I often can't do it on the first try. It seems like I have to double-click on the field, and sometimes that selects the entire content, sometimes not.

At this point, looking at the other docs that talk about how to do cut/paste in Android Firefox, I should get the popup menu that gives me the choice to copy to the clipboard. That doesn't happen here. I get the soft keyboard, but there's no obvious way to copy the selected text to the clipboard.

If it matters, I posted the same question here , which also shows a screenshot.

Thank you for the screen shot.

Judging from the color, the text seems to be selected already. If you long press the selected text, does Firefox display a menu including an option to copy?

I'm not sure how different that URL is from the one in Firefox's address bar. If they are the same, you could try long-pressing the address bar to copy the address.

Note: I am familiar with the phone version of Firefox for Android, and there may be some differences from the tablet version.

I've managed to get this working, but the behavior is erratic. I found it very easy to get into the state where the text is selected, but the clipboard icons aren't present. I've concluded that if I just carefully single-click in the field, it gives me the orange text cursor along with the "select all" and "copy" icons, which I can then use in sequence to get it copied.

I can't tell without hands-on access, but it's possible that the site has special coding on the pop-up that behaves differently than regular form fields. For your convenience, of course, but not following the regular UI conventions can be confusing.
