Press F8. It is the Message Pane and not a preview. It actually open the message.
No sorry, F8 doesn't work
View-Layout and uncheck Message Pane
In the view option unchecking F8 does not permanently hide the message, Next time of the time after the message pane is seen. Can this be permanently set?
