Hello,

I've got a problem with Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. I can't watch Netflix anymore (Amazon yes, Youtube too). Under the taskbar in Firefox it says "Firefox is still downloading components needed to play media in this page. Please try again later." This apperas in the Netflix and Amazon Player, but on Amazon I can still watch videos. On Netflix it did not even start.

I have the latest Firefox Version (48.0.1). I looked up my add-ons. Almost all add-ons are updated, but I have a problem with 4 of them: 1. The first one is OPEN H264 Video Codec from Cisco Systems. It say's it get automatically installed by Mozilla. In yellow letters it 2. says "It's made available by Cisco Systems and it's going to be installed briefly". 2. Same for the add-on "Primetime Content Decryption Module by Adobe Systems, Incorporated" (which is needed for safe video playing). 3. And same for the "Widevine Content Decryption Module zur Verfügung by Google Inc.", also neede for safe video playing. 4. The last one, "Java Deployment Toolkit 8.0.1010.13" seems to have safety problems, so it's deactivated by Firefox itself.

The first three I can't install by myself. And it says its going to be installed briefly since 2 or 3 weeks.

Does anyone has a clue? Hope you could understan me. Thank you and best regards from Germany.

hi jwolfk, have you set browser to update automatically in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > update panel?

If you already have Firefox set to update automatically, then the problem could be that your security software is intercepting the HTTPS request to download the needed components from Mozilla's servers, as reported in this bug report:

Bug 1300633 - Users report Netflix stopped working after Firefox 48 as CDM won't get installed See Bugzilla etiquette before commenting in bug reports.

What security software are you using? Until this bug is fixed, you can try to disable the interception of secure connections in your security software settings, as explained in the "Antivirus products" section this article: How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites

Hello,

thanks to you both! I've got the latest version. My security software is called "Bitdefender". I'm going to read your link @AliceWymaqn and try it out! I'll report later.

Thanks and best regards.

I have the same problem but am not sure how to report is. I also have bit defender and when I disable the SSL in Bitdefender it then says download can not be installed because it is corrupt. I have no clue what to do now.

To jwolfk: any luck getting this fixed? Another person had a similar issue, as reported here, which she fixed by turning off Bitdefender's Scan SSL feature (see these instructions for details).

To AustinTamplin (and others): This thread is for helping jwolfk. You should ask a new question so that we can see your system details and help you better. See Mozilla Support rules and guidelines. Suggestion: If you see an error message, give the exact error (example) or post a screenshot.

P.S. to AustinTamplin: I see you already posted your own question here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1138374 Firefox wont download Widevine due to connection failure.

Please post any additional information to that thread.
