Why does it ALWAYS think that the installed version is OUTDATED?

I got this msg, installed the newest from the Adobe site, reloaded the page -- and Firefox still think's I'm using an OUTDATED version.

Or is the word Outdated code for "20th Century legacy app that should be deprecated altogether because its ALWAYS vulnerable?"

Shockwave Flash

   File: Flash Player.plugin
   Path: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin
   Version: 23.0.0.185
   State: Enabled (STATE_VULNERABLE_UPDATE_AVAILABLE)
   Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Well that's another couple hours of my life wasted maintaining Firefox. The app is getting far too tweaky. If it WORKS its not outdated.

The version I had was in fact downloaded by me on 11/8. 23_ppau_a

BUT when I downloaded again, the filename is a bit different. 23_a

So now I can get it to claim to be installed.

But I have no idea what the exact rev number is -- Adobe does not put the FULL rev number in their .dmg filename.

Flash Player 23.0.0.185 is two updates behind as there was 23.0.0.205 and the current 23.0.0.207 released on Nov 8.

https://addons.mozilla.org/blocked/ October 28, 2016: Flash Player Plugin 22.0.0.211 to 23.0.0.185 (Win&Mac)

If you do have 23.0.0.207 and it detects you have 23.0.0.185 then you may have both installed on your Mac.

There is a different player for each computer system. How about we start over?

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version: 23.0.0. 205 Flash Player (Linux) Version 11.2. 202.643

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download.

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download.
