installed 64 bit firefox. uninstalled 32 bit version. actually used revo uninstaller, but opted not to do the thorough removal of all leftover files/registry items b/c didn't know if any of those might still be in use by new 64-bit version. there were many files, mostly in app data folders belonging to mozilla.

so, can i delete the entire mozilla folder from the (x86) program files folder? how about all the app data files for mozilla (local, locallow, roaming)?

will deleting any of these remove my extensions/plugins? if not the app data mozilla folders, how about just the x86 program files mozilla folder?

thx

64 and 32 versions should work with the files in question.

If you want to do a clean install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

thx for the reply. tho, not really what i was getting at.

i pretty much figured i'd leave the app data mozilla folders, especially profiles, but i wanted to know if the x86 mozilla folder was now not needed. after looking inside, i think i can get rid of it, as it doesn't contain anything relevant now.

That is correct.

The Plugins like Flash Player, Java, Silverlight and such are on the OS and not installed in Firefox. You can type about:plugins in the Loation (address) bar to see where your Plugins are located. Note for 64-bit (Win64) Firefox only the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins are white listed to run in Firefox on Windows. To use other Plugins with Firefox on Windows you need 32-bit Firefox and 32-bit Plugins.
