How Do I Stop The Update Page From Automatically Opening In Chrome When Updating Adobe Flash And Get It To Open In Firefox?
When I update Adobe Flash the update page automatically opens in Chrome even though I have Firefox open. The same thing happened tonight when I was using an online calculator in Firefox and then clicked on the print command it opened the page in Chrome. I am using Firefox as my browser but am using Chrome as my search engine. How can I get the pages in these situations to auto-open in Firefox and not in Chrome? Thank you.

External programs generally send just the URL to Windows to open without specifying what browser to use, and Windows will send the URL to your default browser. It sounds like Windows considers Chrome to be your default browser. Is it?

That's hard to understand. Does that website's print command download a PDF to your computer? You can check how your Firefox is configured to handle PDFs using the steps in this article: View PDF files using Firefox’s built-in viewer.

If you want to set Google as your default search engine in Firefox, see this article: Change your default search settings in Firefox.
If that doesn't work, or if it works only until you exit Firefox and start it up again, we can help you investigate what's going on, since it should be a "once and done" permanent change.

Thanks. I just now went into the control panel and programs and set ALL the defaults for Firefox and NONE for Chrome. So, the next time I update Adobe Flash I will watch and see which browser it opens in. I think you probably hit the nail on the head with your answer though. Thanks again.

Thanks. I already have Google set as my default search engine, and Firefox is my default browser. I just like the way Google present the search results better than the other search engines do. Plus I like Google Maps better too. Just personal preference.

No, it just opens it in a new tab as a webpage. Then if I want to print it I have to use the context menu and select print. I can also save it as an image and then print it from files. But it does not open it as a PDF. Just a regular HTML file like a webpage.
