I have two pc's that attachments will come thru as windmail.dat files. the same email will be sent to my pc and it comes thru as the PDF as it should have been. What settings in thunderbird I need to make them all receive attachments correctly? These Pc's are all windows 10 machines. Email accounts are all thru the same email provider.

You may have an add-on on one machine that interprets TNEF/winmail.dat files - see if you have LookOut! installed in Thunderbird's add-ons page. The other computers don't know what to do with it because it is a closed proprietary Microsoft format.

The real solution is to persuade your Microsoft-using correspondents to set their systems to use HTML, not RTF.
