Do you know what is suppose to be displayed?

When you display an image stand-alone in a tab, it does have a dark background behind it. The mystery is why the image doesn't appear in the center in front of the dark background.

Could you check the Media list in the Page Info dialog to see whether a second image is loading and what it looks like? You can open that using either:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Media
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Media

A list of all the media files Firefox has loaded into the page should appear in the box. When you click a file name, a preview image should appear.

For a "stand-alone" image it's usually the image you want to see plus the dark background. What do you see?
