If I get an Email while on another screen this image will open and block my screen for a short while. If I get several Emails coming in It will show several of these Windows and block my screen. It may be an add on I accidentally installed. I just want to get rid of it. I am using Thunderbird Version 52.2.1 (64 bit) on Kubuntu 17.04. I will enclose a screen shot of it. If this is not from Thunderbird please tell me where you think it is coming from so I ca get rid of it Thank You. Richard Barmann

It doesn't look like a standard Thunderbird notification, but then again, it is capable of linking in to the native notifications system of your operating system, and it's so long ago that i last used Ubuntu or KDE or Kubuntu that I don't know what it should look like in those environments.

But it seems odd that these pop ups mention an url. That's not usual for an email notification. Your post implies that they stop appearing if you close Thunderbird. Did I get that right?

That's Firefox, right, not Thunderbird? I'm not sure I understand the connection with email... the URLs look specific to the page in the active tab.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)
