Im back to firefox and try to recover my old bookmarks from firefox and a problem has begun.

I already have some bookmarks saved on my current firefox, and the old bookmarks too, so when i try to restore the old one, the new one will be gone and cant keep, add or mix them together.

i cant copy and paste from the old one to new one, cant paste the folder from old bookmarks since the old bookmarks have gone after i recovered the new bookmarks

the other option is copy the addresses to the other browser, paste and add them back to my current bookmarks but it will take ages...

is there any way to restore specific folders from previous bookmarks?

the other quetion is can i change the bookmark backup folder? i mean when i try to backup the saving location set on desktop all the time. can i change this location? i have a folder for firefox backups

little help here please.

Yes, but it is a very convoluted method which involves exporting bookmarks in HTML format, then editing that file to get rid of what would be duplicate bookmarks, and then importing that bookmarks.html file into the other Firefox installation.

No, there's no preference for setting an alternate folder for the automatic bookmark backups in JSON format which is what Firefox uses for the automatic backup routine. But if you would turn on browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML by changing the value to true an HTML "backup" would be created automatically when Firefox is closed; see browser. bookmarks. file in this mozilaZine support article - http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries - then scroll down to Browser - for a pref to set the location of that "backup" file; then see if it still works. I used that pref for many years, but quit using it at least 3 years ago, and don't know if that pref still works when you create that pref.
