After the latest update unchecked checkboxes and scrollbar handle is invisible.

After update to Firefox 56.0 (64bit) the scrollbar i black on most sites (this support forum also) and "scroll-handle" is invisible. Makes is hard or impossible to scroll on larger pages.

Also most checkboxes and text field borders are invisble, hard to click on and sometimes impossible to know there are checkboxes.

I had this problem before (after this summer) on 32bit version, solution was to change to 64bit but now it seems back :(

Think only plugin I have is Pocket. Strange thing is now when i look after extensions/plugins FF dont find any installed ones. Pocket button is still there though.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?


It's possible the background is the same color as what is missing.

Make sure you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Options/Preferences -> Content: Fonts & Colors -> Colors: "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above"

Try "Never" if the default "Only with High Contrast themes" isn't working.

This setting affects background images.
