Under old Firefox, you clicked on the star symbol to bookmark a page, but doing this with Quantum just takes you to a list of bookmarks in effect.

A search on the forum on "How do you add bookmarks in Quantum?" just brings up 4394 results which happen to include one or more of the key words in the question rather than results that answer the question. (I am assuming that the use of quotes in a search on the forum has the same effect as when used in other cases.)

Well, it depends what you mean by the star. On the previous Firefox there was a small star on the toolbar and when you clicked on that you added the page you were on to your bookmarks. A star like that is still there, but when you click on it it just takes you to your list of bookmarks. That's the star I was talking about.

Going on to some of the sites I have bookmarked after reading your post, I noticed another star outline to the right of the search bar showing the site details which, on the bookmarked sites is blue and, checking on a non-bookmarked site, that same star has a clear centre, so guess that is the star you are talking about, and clicking on that does, indeed, solve the problem. Equally, clicking on the three dots to places to the left of that star produces a drop down menu from which you can bookmark a page, so two ways of doing the same thing.

the star is still there. If it's solid blue the site is already bookmarked and shows you that drop down menu. If the star is blank you get a drop down menu and you can choose where to save it. If you leave the menu there too long it will save the bookmark to the listed folder and turn the star blue.

I had the same problem today too, and after searching for an answer and seeing your question I found the star on the right side of the address bar just before the search window with by the (magnifying glass and green plus sign) . I'm sure in the old firefox everything was grouped together now I,m trying to figure how to move it with the other bookmark icon.
