After update, every jpg opens as a new window or won't open at all.

Firefox's update on November 23, 2017 has now blocked jpgs I already have on my MacBook Pro running El Capitan from opening saying "Can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac Apple Store and identified developers. FIREFOX CREATED THIS FILE ON NOVEMBER 23, 2017."

But this jpg opened yesterday and it is NOT an application and it normally opens in Preview.

Also every time I try to open a screenshot or other image, it opens as a new window in Firefox.

How can I get my jpgs and pdfs to open in Preview like they used to? This is really wasting my time and I can find a permanent preference or setting for this in Preferences.

Yesterday I set Firefox Preferences to open jpgs and pdfs to 'use Preview' but that's not working. So is there another place to set Preview as the default instead of Firefox? When I right click Firefox comes up as the default and I can't seem to change that.
