Videos on YouTube are choppy on resolutions from 720p and upwards on Firefox 57
I've had no issues playing 4k60p-clips on YouTube on previous releases of Firefox but since upgrading to FF 57 I get choppy playback even at 720p. This is the case on both my desktop and my laptop and playback in Chrome is still fine so it certainly has something to do with FF 57.
By choppy playback I mean that the sound plays fine all along but the image freezes constantly throughout the video for like anything between 1-10 seconds.
I've tried some basic things: - It doesn't matter how many tabs I have open - Reboot the browser or PC - Reloading the page (F5 or CTRL+ F5) - Waiting for the video to load/stream ahead
Nothing makes any difference and sometimes it seems a bit random, as playback starts normally for 5-10 seconds with an occasional stutter and then the freezing starts again.
You might find it hard to believe that I had no issues with 4k60p on the laptop considering it's specs, but it did actually manage that without choppy playback. It certainly got very hot and you wouldn't want to do do anything else at the same time, but it did work.
Both PC's are running Windows 10 1709

Suggest a Clean Install of them may fix the issues.

I ordered a GTX 1080 Ti a few days ago which should arrive tomorrow. I'll do a clean install then and get back with the results.
Where does it gather the system info that's attached to this thread? Is there any way, aside from creating a new thread, to get the updated info after a clean install? I'm particularly interested in those failures.
It would also be great to get that system info about my laptop, which is more heavily affected by these issues than my desktop. I guess a check on the drivers might do some good there as well.
I watched some YT clips yesterday on my desktop ranging from 1080 to 4k60. The 1080-4k30 clips played back just fine but 4k60 was a mixed bag.

The last one works perfectly in Chrome.
But I will install the new card and check if there are any driver updates that may improve playback on the laptop.
So the new GPU is installed and I've done a clean reinstall of the drivers and the performance is much improved.
I ran some tests with the same clip that was causing me issues before (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppy_gjBp71E) and there's still a dropped frame here and there and the occasional small stutter, but overall it's much improved and on a acceptable/watchable level now. Question still remains though why I had no issues like this on FF 56 and I watched the whole clip in Chrome and the playback was flawless without any stutter at all.
I'm sure performance will improve as the updates keep coming for FF 57+ but in the meantime I still have to check for driver updates for my laptop to see if I can get the performance to improve there as well.

Be very wise to keep that Motherboard working with updates until they no longer supply them.

MICROSOFT VIRTUAL MEMORY
You may want to try this: Open the System Folder then Click on left side Advanced System Settings which opens System Properties click the Advanced Tab then click Performance button Settings then the Advanced Tab then Click the Change under Virtual Memory click Custom Size and Change Size to where it says Recommended Size to same size in both (the greyed out size) then Click Set and then Click Apply then please Re-boot.
System - -> Advanced System Settings --> System Properties - -> Advanced Tab - -> Change Virtual Memory - -> Custom Size - -> ENTER Recommended Size - -> Set - -> Apply-- > Reboot
