Hello Everyone, Using Firefox 57.0.2; Lenovo G585 laptop; W10 home, version 1709 Having just done an extremely long (8.5 hours!) update for my W10, I opened Firefox to find a descending row of dots in my Yahoo Mail inbox where usually the subject of the email would show and from who it came. I have been to Settings/View email and altered and then changed back the settings to get it to reset, but this has not solved the problem.

I would be grateful if anyone can help me correct this strange appearance of the inbox.

Thanks, Colin.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

If the issue is in your Profile : Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hello Pkshadow, That appears to have solved the problem, thanks! All seems as before, and I shall leave the profile bit for now, I am pretty sure it is OK. The long W10 update caused many problems, but I needed to have the mail sorted out first to obtain assistance with the other items! Regards Colin.

When this happens again then try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
