I used to be able to save my security questions in the password manager. There was an add on that let you add extra entries, but it no longer works with the new fireforx.

I wanted to make a suggestion to the firefox programmers to let us add whatever entries we want to the manager so we can save our security questions. Or make the manager ask us to save when we type in security questions.

You should post your question in the add-ons forum; https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/c/add-ons

Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Flash Player Version: Version 28.0.0.126

FredMcD,

Thanks for replying.

I see what you are saying, but I was hoping the firefox developers could make the password manager itself let users save security questions without an add on.

It is too important to leave to an add on that could break at anytime.

The security questions are just as important as passwords and should be saved in the same secure place.

This blog post:

https://blog.mozilla.org/internetcitizen/2017/01/25/better-password-security/

Says to come up with random answers to the security questions that are like passwords. But, without a place to save these answers that are just like passwords, that is not helpful advice.

There are plenty of password managers :

You might want to consider a cloud-based service for your logins. Even if the add-on doesn't work, you can copy/paste from their website. Obviously there are many choices for such services and you'll want to check their reviews carefully.

(And it's important to remember not just the answers, but the questions. Were Sleepy, Dopey, and Doc my first pet/car/girlfriend or the city where I was born or my favorite movie? Crap.)

Is there something wrong with the password manager in Firefox? Why do people keep saying to use something else?

I am just wanting to make a suggestion on ways of improving the firefox password manager. I don't know where else to post such a suggestion but on the firefox website. Maybe this is not the website for that.

Mozilla is in the early stages of an experiment called Lockbox that will maybe someday replace the built-in password manager. It's way too soon to know what features it will offer, or even whether it will eventually be part of Firefox. I don't see any reference to storing security questions in it. If you want to take a look -- INSTALLATION NOT RECOMMENDED -- here's the starting page:

The main problem with the secondary security questions is that they can change, and password managers can't handle that.

Even a form filler would not work on something like this.

Passwords and security questions change at about the same frequency.

With the ability to save both passwords and security questions in the password manager, we could easily update them as needed.

Firefox does not set the password manager to save entries in the security questions box, so you need a way to manually put them in there.
