I experienced an error in Windows 10 that required my dropping back to the last restore point. (1 day prior). Since this change, Thunderbird is giving a Setup startup error that "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to reboot it now?" Rebooting does nothing and the same message appears when trying to restart Thunderbird. Thunderbird had previously succeeded in upgrading fully to the most recent patch release. Is there a registry change or other method to correct this issue?

Made a backup of my Thunderbird Profile as a safety measure. Tried to uninstall the application, but received the same error message. Removed the application directory, downloaded the current install image and reinstalled. Fixed the issue, though this was probably overkill. Something that could have been corrected in registry or an .ini setting...

Same problem with Windows 7. I'm not as savvy as you, so how do I find my Tbird profile and back it up? Then, how do I remove the application directory? Then presumably I download Tbird from the website. Do I then need to do anything with the backed up profile?

Advice greatly appreciated!
