accidently deleated firefox. how to recover bookmarks?
After an update, I had 2 firefox icons in my applications folder. One appeared 'normal' and the other was greyed out. I deleted the greyed out one, thinking the new one contained all of my info and bookmarks. Not so. I lost ALL my bookmarks. I've tried all suggestions on the support pages and none work. The uninstall program wiped out all my settings, profile, and bookmarks. I do have some backups on time machine and iCloud but I don't see my Library folder with the Firefox info in it. Yes, I screwed up! I'm totally lost without my bookmarks (at least 5 years worth). Is there any way for me to recover my bookmarks? Maybe from your servers? Any help will be appreciated. Randy Cozby

Hi, sorry to hear that. Mozilla does not keep anyone's data/bookmarks nor if have Sync also it is not recoverable from this end. Also Support does not have anything to do with sync other than provide info.
If they are not here : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data or in a folder on your desktop called OldFirefoxProfile then again no.
You could give the 1st one on this list a try : https://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/best-free-data-recovery-tools-1321723
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
It seems ALL firefox data was erased. Firefox doesn't even exist in my Library or App support. I guess I'll try the disk recovery tool. Dang, soooo many bookmarks that I use all the time. Thanks, Randy
If you use the Time Machine or other backup then try to restore file(s) from this backup.
I'll just take it to the Apple store. Thanks for trying.
After going over your question again It appears that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.
If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of these article.
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.
Please pick a solution even if is yours to solve this so others can find it please.
