Google Inbox and Boomerang have a feature that allows you to snooze emails to be read later. For example, I receive an email about something that I don't want/need to address for a week. I don't want to put the email into a folder where it gets lost because I forget about, and I don't want it sitting in my inbox cluttering it up. I want to "snooze" the email for a week and have it reappear in my inbox when it is time for me to address it (this could be later in the day, in a day, later in the week, next week, or some date beyond that). Is there a a way to accomplish this?

I tend to use the 'Tags' option. then I select to sort by tag or filter on it using Quick Filter bar' Run though what needs doing and retag as done.

But, an option would be to use the 'Events and Tasks' associated with Lightning Calendar.

Example:

  • right click on email and select 'Convert to task'
  • Category: select 'Follow up
  • set Start time
  • Status 'needs action'
  • Reminder eg: 5 minutes before
  • click on 'Save and Close'

These 'Tasks' will be visible in the 'Tasks' tab There are various filters on what to show. The email contents will also be visible in the Task.

When the time lapse occurs, a pop up will appear drawing your attention to the task that needs completing. You can choose to 'snooze' for a bit longer or Dismiss. there is a details button allowing you to see exactly what it all about.

However, it does not link back to the actual email. So I would suggest using the 'Tags' in conjunction with the 'Tasks' snooze option. As the Tasks offers a category called 'Follow up', I would put all emails that need follow up into a 'Follow up' folder. Then it is a useful reminder of where the email is located. The 'Tag' will offer options on whether eg: 'important' or 'done' etc. Once dealt with move email to suitable folder and dismiss the pop up.

The 'Task' will still be in the 'Tasks' list until you delete it, but it can be used as info on when you dealt with that task. You can change the status of Task to 'Completed on' date. This gives you a calendar reference to important tasks.
