FireFox is not saving my user sign-in and password information
I am having an issue with my FireFox not saving my sign-in information. Every time I sign into a websites (like outlook or here) I get the dialog box that offers to save my information. But when I click to confirm that I want the information saved. It just goes away without saving anything, almost as if I have just click elsewhere in the browser window to ignore the Dialog box.
I have just switched to using a Linux OS - Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver, using FireFox Quantum 60.0.1 (64-bit).
I have the Preference option to remember passwords switch on I have the Preference option to remember history set to "Remember History" I am NOT using a Private Session I have tried adding the Remember Password add-on that everyone suggests... But it is NOT available for FF Quantum

I was an avid support of FF when using Windows 8.1 and did not have any problems with it.
Please help I love the auto-fill options FF offers and would love to be using them. Since some of my passwords are random generated and a pain to be typing in every time.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
I just tried to run in safe mode.
It is still not saving the passwords
Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

I know I am using the FF that comes with the most recent stable version of Ubuntu 18.04.
And I am not comfortable uninstalling FF from my PC, since it is the only browser I currently have (and really want to use).
Plus, the process sounds extremely complicated and easy to mess up. Even though I may sound like I know what I am doing. I am new to using linux and I can best describe my knowledge and abilities with computers as: "enough knowledge to really do some damage". I've already had to re-install Ubuntu 3 times, I'd rather not have to do it again if I muck things up.
There must be a way to get the latest version FF:Quantum to operate the way it does with other OS's, like Windows... Especially if people are using the most up-to-date linux OS distro's. Without having to install an older version...
I mean, it's not like the option to save passwords is not working altogether... it's just not accepting any form of input into the dialog box.
So, if the solution is to uninstall the version of FF that comes with Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver and install a previous version. Why is Mozilla including an unstable version of FF in a stable version of Ubuntu 18.04, in the first place? Shouldn't that version only be with the nightly builds of Ubuntu?
Ubuntu makes modification to the Firefox version from its repositories, so this version can behave differently.

I have uninstalled the Firefox that came with Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver and re-installed FF with the downloaded version you suggested earlier.

The problem is still there.
I mean I am seeing the prompt to save my user information. But it either goes away too quickly for me to interact with it or if I do interact with it, it does not save the information and just goes away....
As well, with the instructions I found to re-install FF I had to manually create a launcher icon for my applications menu. And when I added that icon to my dash, it creates a second icon when I click on it (e.g 2 FF icons - one with as many dots as windows of FF beside it). Where as before, I would only have the one icon with as many dots beside it as I had windows of FF open (e.g. 2 windows of FF = 1 icon w/ 2 dots).

Are there any add-ons that would operate seamlessly, like this function does, that are compatible with Firefox 60.0.1 and Ubuntu 18.04?
