if I import bookmarks from chrome - will the chrome browser lose them or does firefox just copy them?
Specifically, all I want is to transfer one folder of bookmarks from chrome to firefox; but, there seems its transfer all or none. The other27 folders I want to remain in the chrome browser.

The bookmarks are copied from the old to Firefox.
You would have to use an HTML backup and edit this file, so it only has the folders and bookmarks you want to transfer.
You can use a USB jump drive to transfer the file.
