Did Firefox change the ability to have multiple Gmail accounts open in the same browser? I updated Firefox and now it no longer works...

I am a freelancer who uses multiple Gmail tabs to manage multiple emails (for my clients and for my personal use). I used to be able to have multiple accounts open at once, and today, after letting the browser update, it signs me out of any other account that is open, requiring me to login each time I need to use a different email account. Is there a way to disable this new functionality, or am I experiencing a bug?

You can if you follow these steps:

1.

Log into Gmail and then go to the Multiple Sessions page on the Google website (link in Resources).

2.

Click "On - Use Multiple Google Accounts in the Same Web Browser." Review and select each checkbox. Click "Save."

3.

Sign out of your account and then log back in. Select your email address from the navigation bar and then click "Add Account." Enter the login credentials for the second Gmail account.

Hi JSinSF, all regular Firefox windows share one set of cookies, and all private windows share a separate set of cookies. So historically if you wanted to isolate pages in one Google account from another, you could separate them that way. Or you might have used an add-on named MultiFox (legacy extension for Firefox 56 and earlier).

To give you more flexibility, Firefox recently added a feature called Containers or Container Tabs. The easiest way to use containers is to install this add-on:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/

The initial set of containers on the menu is named for different kinds of interests/activities, but you can create your own containers and give them names that are meaningful to you (for example, your different Gmail user names).

If you try it, let us know how well that works for you.
