I am told by AT&T that I must contact you for an update to Firefox because I get MAIL SERVED PASSWWORD REQUIRED and LOGIN TO SERVER OUTBOUND.ATT.NET FAILED..

more options

I cannot initiate or reply to email on Thunderbird because I keep getting these pop-up messages: 1. login to server outbound .att.net failed, 2. there was an error saving the message, and 3. Mail Server Password Required ...enter your password for dickey_p@bellsouth.net on imap.mail.att.net. I have no idea what :"outbound" means, or imap.mail, or what password is being sought. I use the same password as I use to log into ATT.Net / Yahoo, but it is not accepted.

Hi kippie, I don't think you need to update Firefox to have Thunderbird connect to your mail server. Since Yahoo was acquired by Oath/Verizon, you may need to update your account settings.

According to the solution in the following recent thread, you may need to obtain a new key from Oath/Yahoo and have Thunderbird send that key in place of your regular AT&T/Yahoo email password. I don't have any personal experience with this setup.

Abruptly and with no apparent cause, emails cannot be sent

I'm going to flag this thread to be moved to the Thunderbird forum so experts can follow up with you.
