Import form Mac Os Mail V6 to Thunderbird (both 52.9.1 and 60.2.1) fails: "no mailboxes were found to import" even if I actually have thousands of emails on Mac

I also tried alternative ways:

1) exporting mbox folders tree from Mac Mail and importing them in MTB by "Import ..." tool. Nothing happens

2) copying the above mbox structure to MTB Local Folders: some actual folder name appears, but empty

2) linknig to MTB local folders the original V6 Mac Mail folders: some actual folder name appears, but empty

I am looking for a solution or a workaround compatible with my about 11.000 messages spread over hundreds of subfolders.

Thank you in aadvance and best regards, Luca

Finding the actual mbox files in the Mac mbox files seems to be the key step:

Hi,

maybe I missed something, but it seems that I have to explicitly import (by hand) one folder at a time, despite the nested organization of all folders: for each folder I have to import its messages and its subfolders separately by repeating the suggested action. In my case the solution is not feasible because I have a huge tree of nested folders, with about 500 nodes (folders) and 10 as average depth. About 11.000 messages. Thus my feeling is that I have to wait for a complete automatic support from Thunderbird, and I hope such a support will come soon.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about there ever being a TB option to import complex folder structures from Mac Mail, given there are relatively few Mac users. Importing from Outlook, a much more common process, is far from perfect, even in current versions of TB. You might find that a commercial 3rd-party converter is the best, if not the only, method.
