I have been running Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 (Mate). Had to completely delete it and repartition my computer (which wiped out the whole operating system and data) and then install Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 (Cinnamon). My new Firefox does not have my old bookmarks. How do I get them back ? Thanks for any help. I am running the same edition of Firefox since I did this over the past 2 days and my previous Firefox was current.

Hmm, what kind of backups do you make of your system?

Normally, your Firefox data is only stored locally*, unless you created a Firefox Account and set up Sync.

Users who set up the Firefox Sync feature have reported mixed results when doing a reinstall. Some regained access to previously "sync'd" data, while others reported that it went the wrong way, and their Sync data was replaced by the new Firefox's default data.

However, I assume you never set up Sync or you would have asked about that more specifically.

* in your profile folder: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

Unless you backed up the Profile(s) in /home/username/.mozilla/firefox/ they are likely gone.

Note the period . on mozilla means it is a hidden folder so make sure you can view hidden folders/files in your filemanager.
