This is different from the options available under "Applications" when you go to about:preferences: that lets you configure Firefox what to do when a *website sends you a file*.

The feature I'm looking for is about telling Firefox what to do after *saving a file to my computer*. Right now, Firefox doesn't do anything. There should be option for user to specify what to do per file type, e.g. opening a JPEG image with the Windows Photos app after it is saved, opening the containing folder where the Microsoft Word .doc file is saved, etc

If that's too complicated, there should be at least an option to show the "Library" window *automatically* so that the user doesn't need to press Ctrl + J to show it.

Hi alexman88, I think there are other people who also would like that third choice in the Download dialog:

  • Open using Application X (saves in the Temp folder)
  • Save where I want
  • Save where I want and then Open using Application X

I don't know whether it could be added to the Applications list on the Options page so it's completely automatic.

You can submit feature change suggestions using one or more of the following:

Otherwise, they tend to get lost in this support forum.

If it was one of the latest downloads, it should be available using the Downloads button (arrow icon) on the toolbar. But for older ones, you still need to go to the Library.

Thanks for the prompt replies jscher2000. The thing is I don't want to move the mouse to the download arrow icon to open the file/open containing folder (it's slow). I'm quite a keyboard person and like to avoid the mouse as much as possible.
