It happens from time to time. Maybe three times a day. When I press the button, it does not get activated. As far as I know, one solution is to turn off visible file extension in File Explorer, but I do like those extensions; they are very useful, so I do not want to do this. Here is one link which I was not able to save. And, after I browsed some other pages and returned to that page, i was able to save it without problems. Why is it so random? My antivirus is turned off. P.S. And now I was not able to close a Private window after I clicked the Close button many times. PSS. I guess, I tried to save the image after clicking on another image, so the name of the old image was going to become the name of the new image. Please, help, and thank you!

This is not the only case. I have found two similar reports:

1) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1241088 (circa year 2018!) "When I try to save an image, the browser doesn't automatically recognize the extension, asking to "save as..all files".How can I solve?Until yesterday it worked"

2) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1242566 (published in 2018 too): ""Save image as" no longer works."

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Hm, you answerd in just 1 minute, so it was impossible type it all so fast. Weird. You must be a superman, and if so, you can help me better! I should say thank you, I guess. However, I would not like to re-install because after it my Firefox messes with my extensions and theme layout, and it can take an hour to synchronise! Do you have any plans to patch this nasty bug? Where do I report the bug?

Does this only happen if there are non-ASCII Unicode characters in the file name like in the screenshot you posted?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

It happens randomly. I've just tried to save a jpeg with a Ukrainian symbol in it, the same I used before, and the problem did not occur.

as i said, it happens a couple times a day

Many of us use pre-written answers for many responses. This saves a lot of time, and typing.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.{web link} I use an add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

Too many movements. I can do it, perhaps, but why should I do it? The other people have this problem, so Firefox could respond to users and fix the bug. Where do I report this bug?

Looks like you should be a hacker to use Firefox. Save your reputation.

The reason for a clean reinstall is in case a program file is causing the problem.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

As I told you, the problem is random. It does not reproduce with images now. But, it happens about 1 or 3 times a day. So, there is no reason to run Firefox in Safe mode, because I don't have the problem right now. But it is most likely to happen some time soon. I sound like trolling you, but, believe me, it's simply random. If I get this problem again, I will post a link to the problematic image here. Have a good day!
