I frequently need to include a URL in a document or email. Until recently I could right click on a URL and I got a list of things like "open the page" or "copy the URL", etc. (Not the exact wording, I can no longer get it to check on that!) I can only get the URL copied if I very carefully left click somewhere nearby and sweep across the URL, it needs extreme precision and is hard with old arms and hands. How can I get back the old options?

Hi rlwilsonjr,

I understand you are having an issue listing options when you right-click the address bar on websites. It seems some of these issues have been resolved from removing certain extensions or add-ons.

To start Firefox in Safe Mode :

  1. Click the 3-bar menu on the top-right of your Firefox web browser
  2. Click Help towards the bottom of the list
  3. Click Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  4. Choose Start in Safe Mode

Why when i right-click on a link goes direct to the page instead of given me the options e.g: "open in a new tab"? {link}

Let me know if this helps!

Yes, please check using Safe Mode.

I should have mentioned that safe mode made no difference.

And I was not referring at all to the address bar: For a URL within a displayed page, Firefox does recognize that it is a URL, since (a) it changes the type color and (b) it launches a new tab opening that URL. Until the last few weeks Firefox would put up a list of options that included opening that page but also included copying the URL. I frequently need to include a URL from email I was sent when I am trying to solve somebody's problem, and that is now a lot less convenient.

Hi rlwilsonjr,

Does the right click still bring up the usual options clicking on things are aren't URLs/links, or is it not recognizing the right click anywhere on Firefox?

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Are that text labels that you try to copy and not clickable hyper links?
