search is broken even after complete database rebuild; can I add a real search option as a developer?

I have an email from 4 days ago that has a certain ordinary word in it: "conductive". I knew I put it in there but I still had to hunt for it because I mailed that recipient a dozen or more times. Search from the edit menu did not find it although it found other instances from years ago. I tried with and without 'search on server'. I deleted the database file and watched the program rebuild it. It still doesn't find it. I am deeply weary of the blase' indifference that everybody seems to have for the deficiencies of token searches which are dysfunctional everywhere they appear as far as I can tell. Sometimes in life you want a real search. Thunderbird comes fairly close to being a good email client in most ways but this remains fundamentally intolerable to me. So I would like to add it myself. Is that possible? Who do I have to talk to to add a clickbox to search that will do a real string search? I will code it myself as long at the program is written in a C family dialect.

You did a search with Classic Search, Edit/Find/Search Messages (Ctrl+Shift+F), but failed to find results. Rebuilding the global database only affects the Global Search (Ctrl+K) results. Did the Quick Filter Bar (Ctrl+Shift+K) find the message from 4 days ago? The QFB works on a single selected folder, while Classic Search works on an account, or a folder and its subfolders. Check that the correct folder is selected at the top of the search window.

With Global Search, keep in mind that it doesn't search quoted text, signed messages, and Trash or Junk; folders can be excluded from Global Search in the folder Properties.
