Everything fine until last few weeks so something has changed. Login on EMIS site {https://app.patientaccess.com/login} only brings up popup to install their app on Firefox on Android and then refuses to allow login, Enter email address and password, get error message - "Sorry you are currently offline. Please try again once you are online." which is obviously a load of rubbish! No popup and login OK on both Windows and Linux with Firefox. No popup and login OK on Android with Chrome. When site site support asked me to try Chrome and it worked they lost interest!!! Do not know if the web page has changed or if Firefox has changed. v68.6 when it failed. Only access site every 4 weeks or so.

Hi Geoff

As a fellow Brit, I hope I can help.

I have tried that link myself and have seen the pop up message. I have seen this on other sites and it is where a company or organsation would like you to use their installable app rather than a website.

I do not have a user name and password for that site, but I can understand what you are seeing when you try to log in. I think that it is possible that the people that built the site just made it work for Chrome, instead of making it work for everyone.

You may want to try using desktop view (details here), to log in and then switch back to mobile view to use the site, but it may make the log in screen very small so you may need to zoom in and take your time entering your details.

I do not think this is an issue with Firefox for Android, more an issue with the site in question, but I hope that I have been able to help.

Hi Seburo, Thanks for the suggestion.

I wondered if the "push" to use the app was causing the problem or if it was deliberate.

I have just tried it and the popup message does not appear when accessing the url in Desktop view, BUT the error message ( "Sorry you are currently offline. Please try again once you are online.") still comes up after entering email + password. So short term elation only! I have checked I am still in Desktop view and not flipped out.

So the popup is triggered by screen size when using Firefox, but the login error is related to the android version of Firefox. That's not to say Firefox is at fault. It doesn't look as if EMIS are deliberately making it fail with Firefox since it works with Firefox + Windows or Linux.

I don't get a fail with Android + Chrome (I don't get a popup either) so the popup is not solely on screen size.

It would be nice to get it resolved but it's not critical - I can use Chrome for this site only, but it goes against the grain!!!

If you have any more thoughts they are welcome.

Hi Geoff

The only thing I can think of is that the site has not been designed to work well in all browsers. In cases where it encounters a browser it does not know, it points users towards a mobile app.

I think that this is an issue more with the site and the way it has been built, rather than with Firefox for Android.

Sorry to take so long to get back. I agree with you it is most likely the site that is the problem rather than Firefox. I just hoped someone may know what the site were doing wrong. Thank you for looking and trying to help.
