Bookmarks Button on the Toolbar

See the included picture.

My question is how to have the Bookmark Button on the toolbar next to the Bookmark Menu Button? I love the way this Button works but I would like it more if it was on the toolbar.

I saw this suggestion on Reddit:

On your Bookmarks Toolbar, move everything into a new top level folder, let's call it BT. Then use the Customize feature to drag "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" from the Bookmarks Toolbar to the desired spot on the main toolbar. When you click Done, there should be a BT button that shows a drop-down list of your Bookmarks Toolbar contents. When you click BT, it will show the current contents of the bar the same way as the Bookmarks Toolbar fly-out menu from the Bookmarks Menu button.

See the attached screenshot sequence for steps and illustration.

Unfortunately, this also adds an overflow button to the main toolbar. Also, you will need to make sure to save new items not to the top level of the Bookmarks Toolbar, but to the BT folder.

You have the Bookmarks Toolbar hidden.

Right-click at the top of the window, to the right of the "tabs strip" and select Bookmarks Toolbar.

Does that help you achieve your goal?

This does not solve the problem. I don't want the Bookmarks Toolbar. I just want the Bookmark Button available as a clickable icon on the existing toolbar. I tried to illustrate this with the arrow I added to the image I included.

The arrow seems to show moving the button for the Bookmarks Toolbar to the main toolbar, so I understand the first reply.

Did you mean the star icon that is at the right end of the address bar? You can remove that empty space between the address bar and the Bookmarks Menu button, but as far as I know, there's no way to move the star from the address bar ("Page Actions" area) onto the main part of the toolbar.

I expected that the ability to move this button to the toolbar did not exist. Hopefully this will be a future enhancement. Perhaps in the interim someone will create an extension that will do the job.

Did you try to remove the flexible spaces that are by default at the left end and at the right end of the location bar ?

You can do this via the right-click context menu in normal mode (Remove from Toolbar) or drag them in customize mode to the Customize palette.

Note that you can drag a tab to the Bookmarks Menu button to bookmark this tab.

Thanks for your reply, but not what I am looking for. What I am looking for is clearly depicted in the image I included with my question. I have not found a way to do this, and based on the replies I have received so far, it is not possible at this time.

The star is fixed to a position in the page actions container and the Bookmarks Menu button can only be positioned directly on the Navigation Toolbar, so the two can not be positioned next to each other like happened a long time ago when the Bookmarks Menu button was actually the drop marker part of the combined Bookmarks star and Bookmarks Menu toolbar button before they were split and the star was moved within the location bar and the Bookmarks Menu button became a separate toolbar button.

Thanks for the explanation. Perhaps someone will create an extension with the functionality I desire. Until then I will live with a few extra clicks.

You could take a look at this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmark-toolbar-menu-button/

I haven't tried it myself. There are some critical reviews about missing functionality, but fortunately it is open source so someone could create an updated version with more features.

Thanks for your reply. I did try that extension before I posted my question. It is a step in the right direction but is not close enough to the function of the existing Bookmark Button. The existing Bookmark Button has all the functionality I desire, and would be ideal for me if I could locate it on the toolbar.

Is this thread some kinda test for a "clown college" exam?
Like how can I confuse the issue by randomly providing mis-leading information as to what I expect to accomplish?

First a mis-leading screenshot is posted and now you finally mention that you have already tried to make it closer to your desired end result via an extension.

Then two of the most active (Top 10) support contributors explain what is possible with the built-in features, which doesn't meet your needs or expectations.

And similar to your thread here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1291021 - about the Bookmarks Toolbar, when an experienced support contributor does help you you are confusing different elements of the Bookmarks / Places system in Firefox with other elements; not the Bookmarks Toolbar but the Bookmarks Sidebar.
