Hi guys, I use many folders to organize my bookmarks, and it'd be easier for me to find the folders I need using the search option, but the search results show only tabs. Are there ways the search result will show folders too, along with tabs?

Thank you very much!

Hi teflon3, where are you performing your search?

To search only in bookmarks, you can use either the Bookmarks Sidebar or Library window:

  • Sidebar: Ctrl+b
  • Library: Ctrl+Shift+b ("Show All Bookmarks")

The search results list shows bookmarks from all available folders, but doesn't indicate where it was found. This is an annoying limitation. To work around that, if you need to know, you can use an extension. For example:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmark-search-plus-2/

Oh, wait, I think you are saying that you want to search for text in folder names as well as bookmark names. I think you definitely will need an extension for that.

Hi :) yes, I wish to search for text in folder names as well as bookmarks names., that's exactly right.

The only extension I've ever tested that searched in folder names was the one I mentioned before:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmark-search-plus-2/

However, there certainly could be others.

In the left panel in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) you can do a limited search for folders as this is a treechildren type of list. You can click in the folder area and quickly press the first two or more letters of a folder name to jump to the next occurrence. If you type too slow then you may start a new new search. This search/focus feature works for all treechildren lists including the sidebar, but can only find visible content (i.e. not collapsed content).
