A website I use with Firefox is very, very slow, although it was fast in the past. When I try it on my wife's computer the website is fast, yet my computer is newer and better than hers, so there is some kind of problem in my computer. The website is www.statcan.gc.ca. I can access Twitter and numerous other websites on my computer with no problems, but this one is deathly slow. Trouble is...I use it all the time.

I am running macOS Catalina Ver 10.15.7 on a Mac Pro. I removed Adobe Flash, emptied the cache, history, cookies, reinstalled Firefox and rebooted my computer. Did not help. The statcan website worked fine for years and now it is deathly slow, apparently for me only. Other sites are normal speed. I am puzzled. Any suggestions appreciated.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Thanks so much for these suggestions. I tried them all, but the problem remains. The odd thing is that when I open another browser, such as Chrome or Safari, I have the same problem, so it's not unique to Firefox. Whatever the source of the problem is, it's affecting all of the browsers.
