I think Fox Lingo is an ancient extension... not sure why that is still recommended. Currently, I think most extensions require a user action to trigger translation because the old method of simply injecting Google Translate scripts -- or any scripts from random websites -- into the page is forbidden by the Add-ons site review policy. The monkey extension injects user scripts into the page.
