Notifications

I keep getting the following "Notification" with email (xfinity) -- "Add 'connect.xfinity.com' as an application for mailto links?" -- but dozens of times. How do I block it? I have no problems with email, this notification is not relevant to me and annoying.

Firefox displays that bar if the site includes a certain tag in the page. Adding it will make Xfinity available on the list of mail programs/sites Firefox can use if you either:

  • click a mailto link, like bob@example.com
  • use the Email Link feature (either on the File menu or there's an optional toolbar button)

Assuming this is your primary email, I suggest going ahead and adding it now rather than waiting until the day you need it. It will show up on the list on the Settings page (formerly known as Options) as described in this article: Change the program used to open email links.

I assume once you add it you will never see that bar again, but if you do, then we would have to research other options for suppressing it.
